'Green' Action - Paper Saving Printing

GreenPrint

GreenPrintHow many extra pages do you really need when you print that page from a Web site? And how many sheets of paper do you generally recycle after replicating that page?

GreenPrint is a piece of software that you download to your pc that allows you to have greater control over what you print as well as making it easier to omit the stuff you don't want to print. It gives you the facility to highlight and remove unwanted pages, especially those one sentence tag-on pages that seem to get printed off when you're printing a webpage. Other features that help you save on costs include a PDF creation tool, Remove Text tool and a facility to produce a report detailing how magnificently 'green' you've been.

Choose the GreenPrint World version as it's free for non commercial use (at homes, schools and non-profits), although it is supported by adverts. The developer of this piece of software reckons that you could save around £64 ($100) on your printing, paper and ink costs as well as collectively saving millions of trees.

As the website states, 'Millions of trees can't be wrong'!! (not sure what they mean by that, but who am I to pass comment)

What is a feed?

A feed is an easy to use way of keeping up to date with lists of information on the web.

You normally subscribe to a feed using a feed reader which collects together all the feeds you subscribe to and also provides a way of unsubscribing should you get tired of a feed. Many browsers have feed readers built in, as do most email clients. In fact, a good way of thinking about feeds, is as a cross between subscribing to an email newsletter and regularly visiting website's news section.
