Want to volunteer for the Olympics?

2012Then get yourself down to McDonalds in Leicester Square, London today between 10am and 2pm.

McDonalds are the London 2012 Olympics volunteer programme managers. Called 'Games Makers' the programme aims to recruit 70,000 volunteers to help out in a wide variety of roles which include meeting and greeting visitors, assisting spectators and ticket checking.

Recruitment starts on the 15th September and in the meanwhile LOCOG (London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games) are hitting the road throughout the UK to spread the word and raise awareness of the programme to encourage people to apply to volunteer - so if you want to know more about the programme get yourself down there.

As well as turning up at Leicester Square today, the LOCOG tour will be at the Grove in Stratford, East London, from 3-5pm.

If you can't make it check out this feature 'Seven ways to volunteer before the London 2012 Olympics'.

What is a feed?

A feed is an easy to use way of keeping up to date with lists of information on the web.

You normally subscribe to a feed using a feed reader which collects together all the feeds you subscribe to and also provides a way of unsubscribing should you get tired of a feed. Many browsers have feed readers built in, as do most email clients. In fact, a good way of thinking about feeds, is as a cross between subscribing to an email newsletter and regularly visiting website's news section.
